Bordered by Bayou LaFourche on the east, this wildlife management area is a popular spot for hunting deer, rabbit, snipe and waterfowl. A primitive campground is located on-site.
Established in 1997, the Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge covers 4,500 acres and houses a variety of waterfowl, wading birds, neotropical migrants, reptiles and game fish. The refuge is open to the public for fishing, wildlife observation and boating. The site features an interpretive boardwalk, nature trails and a native plant arboretum.
